8/5/2012

Location: Asbury Galleria

Description: SPECIAL MAN This book is designed to help children from all kinds of families answer the age old question “what makes a family?” By opening beginning difficult conversations, we can foster acceptance and tolerance; thereby combatting bullying. With the ever-changing social and political climate; there is no better time for a book like this. What family is all about and is a start to teach young children about tolerance and acceptance to combat bullying in school.. “Special Man” is now available at Asbury Galleria of Asbury Park, as well as www.amazon.com. Yevgeniya Kanterezhi, native from Southern part of former Soviet Union, now the country of Uzbekistan, came to life to the United States when she was only 16 years old. She barely spoke English, but after a few years of ESL classes in high school, English became her second language. She then graduated from Montclair State University with Bachelor of Science degree. Yevgeniya, who goes by the American name of Jeannie, had a hard time coming out to her family as a gay woman at the age of 25. But, after numerous discussions with her father, she opened his heart to her then girlfriend and now wife, Gabrielle. Five years later, Jeannie and Gabrielle had a commitment ceremony and two years later, their beautiful son, Dante was born. In 2010 their family was complete when their daughter, Alexandra was born. Jeannie and Gabrielle had chosen an open donor, who touched their heart with his answers during an interview that he gave when signing up as a sperm donor. Their son, who is now 5 has been inquiring about where he came from and after months and months of researching, the two women could not find any children’s books that explain a sperm donor and two mommies. Jeannie, then, took upon herself to write a book, which she called “Special Man”. She illustrated it and self-published it. Jeannie wrote this book in hopes of helping other families and children to be open and accepting of all kinds of families. Jeannie can be reached at 732-319-3052 or jeanniek02@gmail.com

Pippin was Stephen Schwartz Broadway musical. Prior to Pippin, Mr. Schwartz had written the song Butterflies are Free for the award-winning comedy, Butterflies are Free. Mr. Schwartz is currently represented on Broadway with Wicked and the revival of Godspell. Pippin opened on Broadway in 1972 and ran for 1,944 performances. It garnered 11 Tony nominations and had five wins including Tony Awards for Ben Vereen, Tony Walton, Jules Fisher and Bob Fosse (2). In addition to Mr. Vereen, the original cast included Broadway veteran John Rubenstein, recently seen on TV in recurring roles in Desperate Housewives and Harrys Law, the award-winning actress Jill Clayburgh and Irene Ryan, the iconic Granny Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies.

Loosely based on the eldest son of Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne, the musical centers around a mysterious acting troupe, led by a Leading Player and tells the story of Pippin, a young prince searching for the meaning and significance of his life. Accompanying him on his journey are his doting grandmother, Berthe, devious but charming stepmother, Fastrada and the woman he loves Catherine. This classic piece of Broadway history from the creator of Wicked and Godspell will have all of the flavors of a high energy ReVision production.

Over the next two years, their empire, fueled by the real estate bubble and cheap money, falters to the economic crisis. Major changes in lifestyle and character ensue within the cross-cultural household of family members and domestic staff.
