Description: A Gala Evening With Tony Winning Actress and Film/Television Star Christine Ebersole Thursday, August 23, 8PM Christine Ebersole brings her recent Carlyle engagement show to the Axelrod PAC. The evening is sure to be one of the highlights of the Axelrod season and will help raise much needed funds to support our programming. Christine Ebersole's Carlyle show at the Axelrod is sure to include such classics as Strike Up The Band, Johnny One Note, Right as the Rain, Pennies from Heaven, Brother Can You Spare a Dime and from Her Tony Award winning performance in Grey Gardens, "Will You" Stephen Holden of the NY Times called her show "the Apex of New York." All those voices belong to Christine Ebersole, and she uses every one of them - and more - in her unmissable cabaret act at the Cafe Carlyle. I have long been an admirer of Ms. Ebersole's versatility as a New York actress in musicals (and plays, too, but the subject today is song). Listening to the range of her technique packed into roughly an hour of performance time pushed my admiration into something like awe." Christine Ebersole won The 2007 "Tony Award for Outstanding Actress" in the "role of a lifetime" as "Edie Beale" in the acclaimed Tony Nominated Broadway Musical "GREY GARDENS". Lauded with virtually every Off- Broadway theater award when it premiered at Playwrights Horizon, GREY GARDENS went on to pack its Broadway theater for over a year, with every theater critic praising Christine's bravura performance. She starred opposite Angela Lansbury and Rupert Everett in the 2009 spring and summer Broadway hit "BLITHE SPIRIT," has enchanted audiences throughout her performing career, from the Broadway stage to television series' and specials, film, concert appearances and recordings. Currently, Christine can be seen in TV Land's new comedy series "Retired at 35." BRIGHTNESS: An Interactive Party-Play

Location: 1200 Ocean Avenue at the 5th Avenue Pavilion.

Description: A fun, upbeat, one-of-a-kind experience and the perfect cherry on top of your weekend on the Asbury Park waterfront, BRIGHTNESS tells the story of a group of eccentric friends who reunite at a party, and the shy young newcomer who has no idea what to do next. The show will be opened every night by a different local musician or performer, and the audience will have ample opportunity to interact with the cast before, during, and after the show.

Performance dates for this interactive party-play are August 9-26, Thursday through Sunday at 8pm

Location is 1200 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ 07712 (in the 5th Avenue Pavilion)

Tickets are priced at $10.00 and can be purchased at either at the Experience Asbury store located in the 4th Avenue Pavilion on the Boardwalk or The Bodega store located in Convention Hall's Grand Arcade. This gripping play about the abstract expressionist artist Mark Rothko was originally produced in London in December 2009 and transferred to Broadway in 2010. The Broadway production won six Tony awards including Best Play. This intense and exciting two-character bio-drama starred Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne (Broadway debut) and ran for 101 performances.

Set in a New York studio in the Bowery as the artist Rothko paints a series of murals for a lucrative commission at the Four Seasons in New York City, his assistant questions Rothko's theories of art and decision to accept such a commercial project. A world auction record was set for a work of contemporary art when Mark Rothko’s “Orange, Red, Yellow” painted in 1961 recently sold for just under $87 million.
