200th Birthday of Robert Browning

5/6/2012

Location: Crane House

Description: On Sunday, May 6, at 3 PM, the Stephen Crane House marks the 200th birthday of great English poet Robert Browning (May 7, 1812-December 12, 1889). We will start at 3 PM with a brief biography of Browning and his wife, Elizabeth Barrett, and a couple of Browning's poems. As an “homage” to Robert Browning, at 3:30 we will screen a wonderful English film “The Browning Version” (B&W, 90 min.), based upon a play by Terrance Rattigan and starring the brilliant Michael Redgrave. Although not really about the life of Robert Browning, the title refers to a translation by the poet, Robert Browning, of "Agamemnon," a classical Greek tragedy. As usual there is no admission fee, but any and all donations by check or in cash will go to the Asbury Park Little League. Light refreshments, including a birthday cake for Mr. Browning, will be available. Seating is limited, so if you'd like to attend, please e-mail cranehousereservations@gmail.com 508 4th Ave, AP
