Talk with the Artist

3/23/2013

Location: Parlor Gallery

Description: “We have been working with Ellen since the beginning of Parlor Gallery and we are pleased to be featuring her as our first in an artist lecture series on March 23rd, as well as exhibiting in our newest exhibition at the gallery, Old Friends, New Works.” Parlor states that, “Ellen Stagg began shooting photos at 16 years old, and instantly fell in love with the art form. She has a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and is currently based in New York. As a professional photographer, she has worked extensively in advertising and fashion. Stagg has always been drawn to erotic art and her muse, model Justine Joli, introduced Stagg to many models from the adult industry. Too ‘artsy’ for porn magazines and too ‘adult’ for commercial, Stagg’s stockpile of erotic images found a home on her popular website Staggstreet.com. This outlet has garnered international exposure, including gallery shows, all over the world a documentary series on IFC.com, and Karmalooptv.com and shoots for Penthouse and a show on Playboy TV…” “Talk with the Artist” with Ellen will take place at Parlor Gallery, 717 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park on March 23rd from 6:30-9:30pm. The lecture will include a presentation from Ellen where she will talk about her work and experiences as a working artist as well as taking questions. The price for this talk is $30 per person and includes refreshments. Tickets can be purchased here. (Due to the nature of this presentation, pre-registration is required.) On Sunday, March 24, from 1 – 4:00 p.m., Stagg will also offer a class on erotic photography. It will focus on technique and will feature Stagg’s models Evelyn Vinyl and Poison Ivory. (Cost is $100

Z-Day

3/23/2013

Location: Long Branch

Description: Get your zombie on this Saturday, March 23rd on Long Branch’s zombie boulevard, Broadway. Or, at least right off of Broadway behind the old Siperstein’s building at Second Avenue. Russ Bucci – the legendary owner of what was the premier used book store on the Jersey Shore, Red Bank’s Book Pit, sent us information that beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, and continuing on Sunday, March 24th, filming for “THE SOULLESS” will be taking place and they need warm bodies. Er, make that cold flesh – as in zombie extras. “Just show up in old beat up filthy clothes and you’ll be made up… maybe even killed off! Lets face it, sometimes being among the dead can be more fun then being among the living,” Russ writes, perhaps in an allusion to his final year in a hopeless as well as hapless gentrified Red Bank. THE SOULLESS is filming now and this summer, and is being directed by Chris Eilenstine. Bucci is listed as Associate Producer and, with Kenneth Hampton is handling the musical chores. The film is scheduled for a Halloween 2013 release.
